This is the middle movement of a larger work commissioned by Dr. Doug Browning and the Mississippi University for Women for the opening of their newly renovated performance hall.  I felt it appropriate to set a text by George Elliot, who was actually Mary Ann Evans.  She had to write under a male pseudonym to be published at the time.

I wrote this when I was in Carillon at The University of Southern Mississippi.  For over 20 years, Carillon set the standard for collegiate handbell ensembles around the world.  Holy, Holy, Holy is complex, utilizing mixed meters, asymetrical meters, clusters, and extended harmonies.
